Noah Green, of Shirley, was formally indicted by a grand jury on charges amid an ongoing investigation into a shooting that happened on Sunday, Oct. 9, Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond Tierney announced on Monday, Nov. 7.

The DA's Office said Green was charged with:

  • Two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon
  • Third-degree criminal possession of a weapon
  • Criminal possession of a firearm
  • Fourth-degree criminal mischief
  • Unauthorized use of a motor vehicle
  • Resisting arrest

“Here, thanks to the amazing work of the investigators from my office and Suffolk County Police Department detectives, the gun used in the shooting in front of Congressman Zeldin’s house was allegedly recovered from the pocket of this defendant," Tierney said. "Moreover, the Suffolk County Crime lab was able to link this gun to a bullet from the shooting near Congressman Zeldin’s residence, as well as shell casings located in the stolen car believed to have been used in the shooting."

Two 17-year-old boys were shot in the chest on Saint George Drive West in Shirley at about 2:20 p.m. on Oct. 9, and hospitalized with non-fatal injuries, the DA's Office said.

While conducting surveillance for the case at about 1 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 31, law enforcement saw Green leave his residence and enter the driver's seat of a stolen 2022 Honda CRV, which is consistent with the vehicle used during the shooting, Tierney said.

When law enforcement tried to arrest Green, he got out of the Honda and attempted to flee, and tried to reach into his pocket, Tierney said.

Authorities grabbed his hand and recovered a loaded Taurus 9MM pistol from his pocket, the DA's Office said.

The pistol was found to be the firearm that was used in the shooting, according to the report.

"The October 9, 2022 shooting is still under active investigation and defendant Green is not charged with that crime at this time," the DA's Office said.

Green was ordered to be held on  $1 million cash, $2 million bond, or $10 million partially secured bond at his arraignment on Monday, Tierney said.

The DA's Office said Green's next court date is set for Monday, Nov. 21.
